"Pinguins love skinnydipping," Brittany pointed out seriously. "So they must be French." She sat on Santana's bed with a sigh, watching her friend walk into the room after her.
"Ugh," Santana sighed dramatically, ignoring Brittany's comment. "I can't believe my parents forced me to go to the aquarium. Thanks for coming with."
Brittany shrugged. "It was great. I love watching mountain-rays."
Santana gave her a look at that, but it didn't stop her rant. "I mean
Sugar gripped her mother's hand and whimpered slightly as she looked up at the thing that looked like a horse but wasn't coloured like one. Santana looked down at her and smiled, grabbing her daughter from beneath her arms and hoisting her up next to the glass around the enclosure.
"You don't like the zebra, sweetie?"
Sugar shook her head. "He don't look like a horse, Momma."
"That's coz he's a zebra, honey. He's different. He's still a horse, he's just got different colours."
"But horses are bigger too!"
Santana giggled and put her daughter onto her shoulders, walking away with her towards where Brittany waited with their son, a small b

"It's beautiful here."
"It's Croatia, of course it would be."
"And this stuff is really good!"
"It's just iced coffee, Britt-Britt."
"Well, yeah, but it tastes so much nicer than the stuff back home!"
"Maybe 'coz we're in the fresh air and all that?"
"That would make sense."
"It's probably all natural made too "
" "
"It is really good."
"I really want to know why everyone here looks so angry all the time though."
"They're Croatians, B. They're never happy with anything."
"Yeah when are we leaving again?"
"Tomorrow."
"Good. I like it here, but home is so much nicer."
"Why's that?"
"Our own bed."
" "
"Don't
Brittany didn't like watching Santana like this. Every time they lost a competition, be it with the Cheerios or with Glee club (which was more often than not), she would get sad and frustrated and wouldn't speak to anybody for hours. Today was no different. After the Troubletones had lost at Sectionals, it had broken her heart.
And here they were, in the same auditorium that had been the backdrop for her heart shattering, with Mercedes and Sugar, and the group that had taken away their well deserved victory singing their heart out.
But Brittany loved this song

"If you break a bone in your body one more time, there aren't gonna be any bones left to break!"
Brittany gave a groggy laugh as she was left alone in the room, starting to count to herself. 1 .2 3 4 5 6
The doctor was already back in the room, helping her off the table and frowning. "You broke your arm again, Brittany. No laughing, this is serious. At this rate, you could severely damage the nervous system around the bones one day and you can say goodbye to using your left hand properly again!"
She shrugged and followed him to the next room, where her jacket and bag lay. Her helmet was there too, but it was

It was like being immersed in cold water, and then resurfacing for air into a warm atmosphere. It was like being thrown into a valley filled with snow wearing nothing but shorts and a tank top and then being wrapped up in a blanket. It was like being flung up into the air and being caught by a cloud as you tumble back down.
Brittany couldn't find any other way to describe falling in love with Santana.
She lay in bed now, watching her lover's chest rise and fall with every breath she took, watching her mouth twitch in her sleep, watching the sun slowly rise and illuminate her body piece by beautiful piece

"Brittany?"
The blonde slowly raised her head as she looked up at Santana and grinned behind the mask. "Hi!" she waved at her, her hand engulfed in one very large grey glove. Pulling a face, her wife moved closer, hugging herself as she did.
"You know I don't like you coming out here alone, Britt Britt."
"I know, but I had to get some honey!" Brittany rolled her eyes behind the grey meshed mask and pulled her hand out of the beehive, smiling at the sticky, viscous substance dripping off her fingers and onto the grass in their field. "See?"
Santana laughed and grabbed an empty pot nearby, putting it under Bri
"Are you sure about this?"
"Positive!" Puck grinned, tightening the final strap on her oxygen tank and winking at her. "Just breathe normally, like I thought you; use the signs we practiced. You have " he glanced at his watch and nodded, "One hour. I won't be far behind. Enjoy."
Taking one deep breath, she flipped backwards into the water.
The blue world engulfed her like a hungry beast, taking her down into its stomach. She looked around, her eyes growing wide as she realized that it really was as nice as Puck had said it would be it was blue and golden and white and small and large all at the same time. It was terrifyingly be

Things were strained, tight, and difficult lately. Those were the only ways Santana could describe it.
She felt it in her relationship, the way Brittany would pull away from a kiss or move her head away when Santana came near her, or cross her legs when they were simply sitting on the sofa in a sort of 'No, go away' gesture.
It was uncomfortable.
"Britt? What's wrong?"
Brittany didn't answer, just shrugged and pursed her lips tighter shut, and Santana sighed, nudging closer and poking her nose against her cheek.
"Tell me, please."
"No."
"Why not?"
Brittany got off her chair in the choir room and glared at her, hissing 'Figure it out y

"This place is beautiful!" Brittany found herself murmuring as the tour van stopped right on the side of a road next to a large water body, that housed what looked like a whole armada of flamingoes.
"It's Italy, it's always gonna be beautiful " Santana answered her as she got off her seat and followed the tour guide off the bus as he welcomed them to take pictures of the flamingoes, ranting on about how their diet made them pink. Brittany followed her, grabbing her wrist with her long, slender fingers and letting herself be dragged outside.
"I thought we were in Sardegna "
"It's still Italy, B."
"Oh. OK."
They leant against the
